This week's games around the state could help mold the playoff seedings for clubs on the postseason bubble.
In Sand Springs, the Claremore Zebras (4-3, 2-2) look to punch their way into the postseason by knocking off the Sandites (3-4, 1-3).
Rob Gilbreath's Zebras enter this game with some confidence after beating Muskogee last week, 18-9.

A win would be just what the doctor ordered for Dewey's rough two-game stretch, while Bartlesville will be battling to stay unbeaten in area Friday football tests.
The Dewey Bulldoggers are coming off grueling road losses at Vinita and 2008 state runner-up Claremore-Sequoyah, which have dropped them to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in District 3A-3.
Friday's showdown against invading Inola (1-3, 0-1) gives the Doggers the opportunity to inject themselves squarely in the chase for a good playoff seed.

Sand Springs tailback Terrance Dixon has been carrying much of the load for the Sandites' offense ever standout quarterback Johnny Deaton broke his collarbone in the season opener.
Since then, Dixon also has been wearing on his right wristband Deaton's No. 8.
On Dixon's left wrist are written the initials "JD."

Brandon Weeden may be the front-runner, but freshmen could be factors.
STILLWATER — Only a few games remain in Oklahoma State's Zac Robinson era.
The 2010 spring-practice period should be compelling as coach Mike Gundy presides over a wide-open competition for the No. 1 quarterback job.
If a (first-year freshman) comes in during the spring and learns it, and if he's really a smart guy and studies it and has a good feel for the game, I think it is possible (to win the starting job) -Zac Robinson

At the photo shoot for the Tulsa World's High School Football Preview Section cover in August, quarterbacks Johnny Deaton of Sand Springs and Eric Bennett of Booker T. Washington gave me some very good advice.
Deaton told me that teammate Terrance Dixon would be a good player to talk to and to watch this season at tailback for the Sandites.
Dixon was flying under the media radar then because Znick Ferrell had an outstanding senior season as the Sandites' featured running back in 2008.

Terrance Dixon is giving notice that Sand Springs isn't about to give in without star quarterback Johnny Deaton.
In what was one of the most memorable individual performances of the young season, Dixon ran for 334 yards and five touchdowns on 40 carries to lead the Sand Springs Sandites over the Memorial Chargers, 41-27, in the opening game of district play in Class 6A-3.
The two schools played an offensive showcase game last year in the Sandites' 61-42 win in Sand Springs.

The first of our ten weekly player of the week nominees for the Ford Award is Booker T. Washington quarterback Eric Bennett.
Bennett racked up plenty of yards and touchdowns, accounting for all four of the Hornets' touchdowns in a 27-6 win over second-ranked Carl Albert last Friday.
And, he did it in just three quarters of action.
